This past Friday morning, October 8, 2010, at 9AM, I got present to what has to be the best, and most highly motivated groups of teachers I’ve ever met. The presentation I was giving was entitled “Pedagogically Social: Using Social Media to Enhance Education.” My audience, —a combination of public and private high school and college Communications instructors— were looking for ways they could allow their students to more fully engage in the educational experience through the usage of modern social media tools in the classroom.
They wanted fresh ideas about how social media could be used to enhance the learning experience. I’m not sure who was more passionate for this session, me or the teachers. But I believe we both walked away with a new found respect for ways social media could be used in this area. I hope they learned something from me and took some of my passion for social media back to their classrooms because I know I learned something from them and took their passion back to work with me.
