All gave some, some gave all. While I’m not sure who was the first person credited with this quote, throughout all off history never have six little words said so much to so many.
All Gave Some
As soldiers we stand as one. When our nation calls and asks who is ready, who will stand up and fight for our freedoms we answer as one and say, “I am ready.” As a peace-time veteran of the US Army, I’ve never had to know the trials and tribulations of combat. But like my fellow soldiers who have so bravely stood in harm’s way, I too stood ready to answer my nations call, and stand in harm’s way if the need arose.
Some Gave All
To those who have fought, died, and are buried on soil both foreign and domestic, thank you. We thank you for your service and ask that you rest now ye wearied soldiers. Rest you who have been the guardians of our freedoms. You that have paid the ultimate price. Your watch is over and that mantle you so proudly bore has passed to those of us that followed in your brave footsteps. So too will the mantle pass on to those that follow us in future generations to become the guardians of our children’s children’s freedoms.
To those Who Have Not Returned
To all those listed as POW’s or MIA’s, do not give up hope in and on us as we have not given up hope in you. We ask that you hurry home. We love you and miss you.
To Those Who Currently Serve
To those currently serving around the world, thank you for answering “I am ready” when your nation called. Thank you for standing in defense of the freedoms we hold most dear. Thank you for standing in harm’s way so that others might know liberty and peace.
One Final Request
On this day, when we pause to remember those that served, and that serve, if you see a veteran today, stop for a moment and say thank you, thank them for their service. Shake their hand, give them a hug, or even just share a smile. But take the time to let them know that their sacrifice is appreciated.
